About
The mission of the Machine Tool Program is to provide the necessary training, work experiences, and related technical knowledge for employment within the machining industry. The advanced machine student becomes proficient at both set-up and operation of a wide variety of metal working machines. Using set-up and operation skills, the student can transform standard metal shops into finished products as specified by shop drawings. The program is designed to give the student experience on a variety of machine tools including milling machines, lathes, grinders, and drill presses. Instruction is given in related mathematics, blue print reading, precision measuring and basic metallurgy, which includes properties of metals, workable characteristics, heat treatment of metals and relative hardness. CNC (Computer Numerical Control) machining is also available as a part of training. The program is NIMS certified and offers student certification. This program is also recognized as a Delta Airlines approved machining site.
