The first NC3 Train-the-Trainer event was held at TCAT Elizabethton March 16-20, 2015. More than 63 career technical education instructors from the across the U.S., including Nebraska and Alaska, spent a week at TCAT Elizabethton to prepare for NC3 certifications on a variety of subjects.
John Lee, coordinator of NC3 Certifications and SkillsUSA at TCAT Elizabethton, is coordinating the Train-the-Trainer event. In July of 2015, Lee received the Dennis Judice Award at the NC3 Leadership Conference at Gateway Technical College in Kenosha, Wisc., for issuing 1,333 NC3 certifications, the most in the U.S.
As of Nov. 30, 2015, TCAT Elizabethton had issued 749 certifications, placing TCAT Elizabethton in second place in the issuance of NC3 Certifications in the U.S.
Lee, along with TCAT Elizabethton faculty, are conducting specialized training for business and industry.
TCAT Elizabethton’s Automotive, Diesel Powered Equipment and HVAC-Refrigeration programs grant Snap-on (NC3) Certification while the HVAC-Refrigeration program grants Trane (NC3) Certification.
