About
The mission of the Aesthetics Program is to prepare the student for a career in the skin care and beauty industry. Estheticians, or skin care specialists, perform skin care and cosmetic treatments, including cleansing treatments, waxing, massage, facials, and makeup selection and application. An esthetician helps people look their best through a variety of cleansing and cosmetic treatments, specifically, keeping skin healthy through skin care and cosmetic treatments. Estheticians are also skilled at selecting and applying makeup for clients to enhance features and hide skin issues. Students must complete a state-approved program to obtain a state license. Estheticians may work in a medical setting or doctor's office, like a dermatologist or plastic surgeons, or they can work in a spa or salon. Sometimes estheticians may also be called skin care specialists and may be self-employed. Demand for skin care specialists is predicted to be strong with growth at 12% through 2024.
