About
The mission of Surgical Technology is to provide the necessary theory and clinical instruction for the student to become a knowledgeable member of the surgical team. Program instruction is provided through classroom lecture and discussion, laboratory demonstrations and practice, and clinical experiences and assignments. Through affiliate facilities, students are exposed to the latest techniques in a variety of surgical procedures and specialties. The Surgical Technology Program provides an educational experience designed to produce Surgical Technologists, competent at the entry-level position, and successfully prepared to take the National Certification Exam.
Program Minimum Expectations: To prepare entry-level Surgical Technologists who are competent in the cognitive (knowledge), psychomotor (skills), and affective (behavior) learning domains to enter the profession.

Surgical Technology is a three trimester, 1296 hour course, divided between classroom and clinical experience that includes 120 cases. Applications are only available at the Information Session which is held once a year in September. To receive an information / reminder letter on the next session you can submit a request form. High school diploma or the equivalent and a passing score on the entrance exam are required for admission to the Surgical Technology program. Effective July 1, 2011 all students enrolled in Practical Nursing, Surgical Technology, or CNA programs must provide proof of immunity to Hepatitis B before having patient contact. The Hepatitis B vaccine is administered in 3 doses over a period of 6 months. This requirement is in addition to all other immunization requirements for enrollment to TCAT-H. Vaccination requirements are to be provided when application is submitted.
The Recommended Information Session for the 2024 Surgical Technology Class will be held on Friday, September 15th, 2023 @ 9:00 am AND 1:00 pm.
If the 9:00 am session Attendees exceeds distancing requirements attendees will be asked to wait until the 1:00 pm session.
